The Future
What if someone came up to you and said the continuation of the world is in your hands. The decision is as simple as yes or no. Do we continue living as we are or do we start over completely, erasing every human, plant, animal, and structure ever known to man and start from scratch. Everything we have ever learned as species going back to the dinosaurs and the first human on earth, continuing to the current technology age simply would be lost and forgotten. What would your decision be? You only have five minutes. You can’t call anyone and there is no life line. There is no twitter #shouldIendtheworld trending topic to refer to. The decision is yours and yours alone. Anything and everything you have ever been through or hope to go through you start factoring in the decision. Your hopes and dreams for yourself, family, friends, kids and future children race through your mind first. Four minutes. Wait, The world is in a bad time right now. I spent to much money towards an education that has yet to reap any benefits. Poverty. Death. War. Disasters. Is there any hope for things to improve? The mayans predicted a possible life altering event on December 21, 2012. Maybe I’ll let the world continue as is and maybe that day if something needs to happen, it will happen. Three minutes. Things are bad but not bad enough for me to end everything. My job is not that bad. I make enough to get by. I know others are not so fortunate but I see things improving in the near future for everyone including myself. I want to spend more time with friends and family. I want to travel and see the world through my own eyes. Technology is expanding at an incredible rate and I want to know what may be possible if we have more time. Two minutes. I just need to breath. I can’t breathe. I don’t know what to do. When I think about my life, of course I want the world to continue. But, this is not just about me. There are people in the world that are suffering with no hope and would give anything for a second chance at life. I’m sweating and my heart is racing. I just need more time. Please. One minute. Can I call my family? Why can’t I call my family! You know what, screw you! I know what I’ll do. This is an easy decision. I can’t believe I’ve even pondered choosing otherwise. Things will change. People will change. My life will change. Your life will change. Time’s up. Yes or No?
